Hazel Grouse (Bonasa bonasia)

The Hazel Grouse also known as a Hazel Hen (Tetrastes bonasia) is a member of the grouse family. it is not a UK resident but is found in northern Eurasia as far east as Hokkaido, and as far west as central and eastern Europe Norway Sweden, liking dense, damp, mixed coniferous woodland, preferably with some spruce.
As with other grouse the nest is on the ground, and 3–6 eggs quite a small clutch is the normal.
Hazel Grouse are relatively small at 35–39 centimetres (14–15 in) length.
